Chris Fortuin (M.Sc.) is a versatile coach, manager and trainer with an Lean Agile project management background. He started his career at Ernst & Young in The Netherlands and worked as an ICT professional for large and complex organisations like Suncorp, Queensland Rail, ThoughtWorks, Brisbane City Council, Rio Tinto, NHVR and the University of Queensland.
In roles as Agile Coach, Delivery Lead and/or Scrum Master, he has been responsible for controlling and scaling projects, programs and portfolios with (distributed) teams, product owners, stakeholders and management. His strength is to successfully operationalise proven frameworks like Scrum, SAFe, Nexus and Lean. This includes making complicated collaborative tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, Wrike, Confluence, Trello and Kanban Boards effectively support team meetings, steering committees, management reporting, roadmaps, portfolio & program planning, story & epic estimation, rolling wave planning, etc. As a result this enabled organisations to focus on improving their customer value delivery.
Chris has always been fascinated to explore better ways of delivering value so during his journey he obtained many certifications in areas of project management (PMP, PRINCE2 and PMI-ACP), Scrum (PSM-I/II/III, CSM, CSP) and scaled Agile (SAFe Agilist, SPS-Nexus). This also enabled him as a trainer, lecturer and tutor to develop and deliver in-house training for his clients, public Agile training courses via Yellowhouse and university courses at QUT.
As a volunteer Chris is a thought leader and active contributor in the Agile community. He is also a founding member of the Agile Brisbane meetup and regularly participates as an industry supervisor for QUT students in their capstone projects.
Finally, he often participates in Parkruns and triathlons throughout sub-tropical Queensland.
